Independent shop

Jeep repair at an independent shop

You don't have to go to the dealer for Jeep service. We handle the maintenance and repairs most Jeeps need, with the same approach we use on every car: diagnose first, price before work, and a warranty on our repairs.

Jeeps we see: Wrangler, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Compass and Renegade.

What we fix

Common Jeep problems we fix

Steering shake and wandering

Some Jeeps with a solid front axle, like the Wrangler, can develop a violent shake after hitting a bump at speed, often called "death wobble." Others just wander or feel loose. The cause is usually worn or loose steering and suspension parts: tie rod ends, ball joints, track bar, or the steering stabilizer. We inspect the front end and replace what's worn.

Brakes

Jeeps are heavy, and bigger tires add load on the brakes. We check pads, rotors, calipers and lines at every wheel. More on brake repair →

Suspension

Clunks, a bouncy ride or uneven tire wear point to the suspension. We replace shocks and struts, ball joints and tie rod ends, and do wheel alignments.

Routine maintenance

Oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotation, and mounting tires you bought elsewhere. Off-road use and towing are harder on fluids, so we'll go over the severe-service schedule in your owner's manual with you. More on oil changes →

Jeep repair questions

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Call and you'll get a straight answer.

Call (201) 664-6556
Do you work on Jeeps?

Yes. Alice Motorsport services and repairs Jeeps, including the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee and Compass. We handle maintenance, brakes, steering and suspension, and check engine lights.

What causes Jeep "death wobble"?

It's a violent front-end shake, usually after a bump at highway speed, seen most on Jeeps with a solid front axle. It's almost always caused by worn or loose steering and suspension parts, like the track bar, tie rod ends or ball joints. A steering stabilizer can hide it but doesn't fix it.

Do I have to go to the dealer for Jeep service?

No. You can have your Jeep maintained and repaired at an independent shop. Keep your receipts and follow the schedule in your owner's manual.

Do you work on lifted Jeeps?

Yes. We service and repair lifted Jeeps, and we install lift and leveling kits too. Tell us about your lift and tire size when you call. See our custom work and lift kits.

Why does my Jeep pull or wear tires unevenly?

Usually alignment, or worn steering and suspension parts. We inspect the front end and do a wheel alignment if it's needed.
