Mechanical upgrades

Custom work, done by mechanics

Custom work at our shop means mechanical upgrades: the parts under your car that change how it sits, sounds and drives. We're a repair shop first, so every upgrade gets the same care as a repair: we check what the new parts connect to, install them properly, and tell you about anything that needs attention along the way.

What we install

Upgrades we install

Lift kits and leveling kits

Raise your Jeep, truck or SUV for bigger tires, more ground clearance or a level stance. We install suspension lifts and leveling kits, then check steering and alignment so the vehicle drives right afterward.

Suspension upgrades

Upgraded shocks and struts, coilovers, springs and steering parts, for a better ride on the road or more control off it.

Exhaust upgrades

Aftermarket mufflers and exhaust systems for a different sound. Before we install, we'll talk through how the part could affect your NJ inspection, since the inspection checks the emission system.

Wheels and tires

We mount and install wheel-and-tire packages you bought elsewhere. We don't sell tires, but we'll fit yours and check clearance after a lift.

Aftermarket parts and accessories

Bolt-on mechanical parts and accessories, like intakes, lighting and winches. Tell us what you bought and we'll tell you whether it's something we install.

Before you modify

What to think about before you modify

A good upgrade starts with a plan, not a part number:

  • What do you want the vehicle to do? Daily driving, light off-road, towing or looks all point to different parts.
  • Everything is connected. A taller lift or bigger tires changes steering angles, brake load and alignment. We'll tell you what else the upgrade may need.
  • Your NJ inspection still applies. Parts that touch the engine or exhaust can affect the emission check. We'll flag anything we think could cause a problem.
  • Quality parts last. Cheap parts can mean a rough ride or early wear. We'll give you our honest opinion of the parts you're considering.

The process

How it works

  1. Call and tell us about your vehicle

and what you have in mind.

  2. We look at the vehicle

and the parts, and explain what the job involves.

  3. You get the price before we start

including anything else the upgrade needs.

  4. We install it and check the work

alignment, clearance and that everything is tight.

Custom work questions

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Call and you'll get a straight answer.

Call (201) 664-6556
Do you install lift kits?

Yes. We install suspension lift kits and leveling kits on Jeeps, trucks and SUVs, and check the steering and alignment afterward so the vehicle drives right.

Can I bring my own parts?

Often, yes, once you've talked it over with Alex. Tell us what you bought when you call. If we agree the parts are right for your vehicle and the job, we'll install them. That way we know we can do the job well.

Will a lift kit or new exhaust affect my NJ inspection?

New Jersey's inspection checks your car's onboard computer and emission parts, so engine and exhaust changes are the ones to think about. We'll talk through any concerns before we install the part.

Do you do body work or paint?

No. Our custom work is mechanical: suspension, lifts, exhaust, wheels and bolt-on parts.

What else does a lift kit need?

Depending on the height and tire size, a lift may also need an alignment, steering parts or longer brake lines. We'll tell you what your vehicle needs before we start, with the price.
